Built for people who plan their own income.
VSMA exists to give freelance professionals in Australia the same quality of investment insight that salaried employees take for granted — without the guesswork.
Started with a simple observation
Freelance income doesn't arrive on a schedule. Contracts start and stop, invoices get paid late, and the tools built for traditional payroll investors rarely account for that reality. VSMA was created to close that gap — building a platform that treats irregular income as the norm, not the exception.
Instead of retrofitting generic investment software, we started from the freelancer's calendar: project cycles, tax-time lump sums, quiet months between contracts. Every feature was shaped around how independent professionals actually earn and spend.
What began as a narrow focus on cash-flow-aware forecasting has grown into a broader platform, but the founding principle hasn't changed: investment guidance should adapt to the person, not the other way around.

Irregular income, ignored Most platforms assume stable monthly deposits — freelancers don't fit that mould.

Generic advice, poor fit Standard risk models rarely reflect the reality of variable, project-based earnings.

A platform built around us We set out to build forecasting and guidance tools around freelance cash flow from day one.
What guides how we build
Independent income, informed decisions
We help freelance professionals plan and invest with confidence, using data models that reflect how independent work actually behaves.
Clarity over noise
We present information plainly, without jargon or inflated claims, so decisions are based on understanding rather than pressure.
Built for real cash flow
Every tool is designed around irregular, project-based income rather than assuming a fixed monthly salary.
Transparency by default
We explain how our forecasts and recommendations are constructed, so users can judge them on their own merits.
Continuous refinement
We treat our models as ongoing work, adjusting them as we learn more about the needs of independent professionals.
Respect for autonomy
VSMA supports decisions — it doesn't dictate them. The final call always belongs to the person using the platform.
A small, focused group
VSMA is run by a team with backgrounds spanning financial data analysis, software design, and independent contracting itself. That mix keeps the platform grounded in both technical rigor and lived experience of freelance work.
We stay deliberately small and focused. Rather than expanding into unrelated products, our team concentrates on refining the core forecasting and planning tools that freelance professionals rely on day to day.
As VSMA grows, we're committed to keeping that same close relationship between the people building the platform and the people using it.
How we think about this work
Model, then explain
We build forecasting tools first around the underlying data, then focus on presenting the reasoning clearly enough that users can question it.
Freelancers, not averages
Our assumptions are shaped by irregular income patterns rather than the smoothed averages used in traditional financial planning tools.
Iterative, not static
We revisit our models regularly as we gather more insight into how independent professionals actually manage their finances.
